The Sumatran tiger is a population of Panthera tigris sondaica that inhabits the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, and is the only surviving member of the Sunda tiger subspecies. It is classified as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. The wild population is estimated at between 400-500 individuals.
